Biohacking got it backwards
You’re trying to upgrade the top while the base is collapsing
You think you need a higher leverage strategy.
Something that moves the needle faster.
Because your goal isn’t small.
You want:
to age slower
to look sharper
to build muscle faster
to have stable energy
to have sexual function that actually works
So you look for leverage.
And you land on:
sauna
infrared
hyperbaric oxygen
NAD & glutathione IV injection
peptides
stem cells
Because the belief is:
“If I find the highest leverage input, everything else will follow.”
That belief is why you’re stuck.
The version of you chasing leverage can’t succeed
Try to find the highest leverage levers aren’t wrong. But focus on the least effective ones is.
And it’s because we’ve been led to believe that only the extreme stuff works. The basics are too boring.
We’re led to believe that true, superior, Gigachad results come from:
→ adding stronger inputs
But your body runs on:
→ constraints
What really matters
Your results are limited by the weakest process (bottleneck), not the strongest input.
You can stack:
peptides
supplements
protocols
But if one process is failing…everything above it gets bottlenecked.
Example:
You eat a “perfect” diet.
But digestion is impaired.
What happens?
stomach acid is low → protein isn’t broken down
pancreatic enzymes are insufficient → carbs and fats aren’t processed
gut lining is inflamed → absorption drops
Now nutrients don’t enter the system properly.
Mechanism → Translation → Consequence
Low digestion → nutrients stay in the gut → bacteria ferment them → endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide) increases.
Endotoxin binds TLR4 receptors → activates NF-κB → increases inflammation.
That inflammation:
reduces mitochondrial efficiency
impairs hormone signaling
drains energy
speeds up aging
Translation:
You eat clean and healthy, but your body can’t use it.
Consequence:
Adding more “high leverage” inputs does nothing.
Absorption sets the ceiling.
Same with endotoxin.
If the gut is inflamed:
bacteria produce endotoxin
endotoxin enters circulation
immune system stays activated
This isn’t sporadic, once in a blue moon.
It’s constant.
Mechanism → Translation → Consequence
Endotoxin activates TLR4 → increases inflammatory signaling → interferes with mitochondrial respiration
Translation:
Your cells can’t produce energy efficiently.
Consequence:
You feel tired, unmotivated, flat, achy. Old.
And you try to fix it with more inputs.
You don’t need more energy production.
You need less energy being stolen.
Same with your nervous system.
If you breathe fast and shallow all day:
CO2 drops
oxygen delivery becomes less efficient (Bohr effect)
sympathetic tone stays high
So your body stays in a stress state which leads to poor sleep, poor recovery, poor performance.
And then you try to “recover harder” with peptides, red light, hyperbaric chamber, TRT, etc.
Not that those are bad, but they don’t address the bottlenecks.
Not to be a hypocrite: those tools are amazing and I do recommend some of them when appropriate, but always in conjunction with a protocol that address the bottlenecks as well.
This is the real mistake
You are trying to override constraints instead of removing them.
Even the people who are supposed to understand this… don’t.
They just make the same mistake at a higher level.
If they don’t have money:
They use:
resveratrol
NAD boosters
SIRT1 activators
Telomere lengthening agents
If they do have money:
They upgrade to:
ice baths
infrared saunas
hyperbaric oxygen
stem cells
Different tools…but same model.
They’re all trying to hack the top of the system.
Very few focus on:
nutrient density
digestion
gut integrity
endotoxin load
Which are the processes that determine whether anything else works.
There are exceptions.
Chris Masterjohn is one of them.
He focuses almost entirely on:
micronutrients
deficiencies
biochemical sufficiency
And it’s working amazingly well.
Using one of the most advanced (best) biological aging metrics available (DunedinPACE), he’s ranking #6. Which is six places ahead of Bryan Johnson and 19 places ahead of Peter Diamandis of X-Prize fame.
And those are people spending millions on advanced interventions.
And he’s outperforming them by focusing on nutrients.
Yes, this is early data and the sample is still small, but the pattern is hard to ignore.
The foundation matters more than the tools built on top of it.
Now there’s a deeper layer.
The comfort trap
You think your choices are rational.
They’re not.
They’re environmental.
If warm water exists…
You take warm showers.
If couches exist…
You sit.
If hyper-palatable food exists…
You eat more.
Not because it’s optimal.
Because it’s available.
Now remove the option.
No warm water.
You take cold showers.
At first it’s uncomfortable.
Then:
catecholamines increase
alertness increases
mood improves
What was uncomfortable becomes rewarding, and even enjoyable.
Your preferences are trained by your environment.
This is why discipline fails.
You’re trying to override an environment that makes the wrong choice easy.
Here’s an easy way to thinking about discipline
Discipline is not doing hard things.
It is removing the easy wrong ones.
A common example is just not to have cookies in the house. A simple solution to prevent buying takeout all the time is to have already prepared food at home/work waiting for you when the hunger pangs kick in.
That makes discipline close to absolute.
Why your past attempts failed
You tried to:
stack high leverage interventions
ignore foundational constraints
maintain discipline in a comfort-heavy environment
That combination always breaks.
Most people skip the basics because they don’t feel like leverage.
But the basics are the only things that compound.
“Pfff, you’re telling me eating steak, liver, oysters, eggs, dairy and easy-to-digest carbs will improve my symptoms?” Damn right!
Think about it this way
Stop asking:
“What’s the highest leverage thing I can add?”
Start asking:
“What is currently limiting everything else?”
Because:
digestion sets absorption
absorption sets nutrient status
nutrient status sets cellular function
cellular function sets energy, hormones, performance
Not the other way around.
The highest leverage intervention is not the most advanced.
It’s the one removing your biggest constraint.
And most people never look there, because it’s too simple to feel powerful.

Most people don’t need more inputs.
They need to identify the bottleneck that’s making everything else underperform.
